We run a number of informal STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) education programs for children in the Central Highlands. This includes after-school Science clubs, one off STEAM events, birthday parties, School visits as well as a Volunteering Program for High School Students. During the holidays our Discovery museum is also open.  Click on the links for more information. Just ask if there is an event you think we can help you with

Volunteer Program

The Central Highlands Science Centre (CHSC) has established a 'Volunteer Program' which gives Senior High School students the opportunity to develop work & community service skills in an interactive environment.

CHSC is committed to delivering fun and engaging science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEAM) activities and education programs to the Central Highlands community, with a particular emphasis on engaging the region’s young minds in science and innovation.

Based in Emerald, QLD, the CHSC recognises and values the contributions that volunteers make to our organisation’s goals and initiatives. We strive to be an equal opportunity employer and recognise the importance of diversity in workplace.

Volunteers give their time and energy freely, contributing to the fulfillment of our organisational goals. In turn, our volunteers develop many workplace skills and capacities in addition to gaining qualifications and a professional reference upon successful completion of the volunteering program. We have a responsibility to our valued volunteers to ensure that they get the most from their time with us and we are committed to maintaining their safety and well-being whilst participating in the activities of our organisation.
