We are run by a group of dedicated volunteers passionate about science. We are the only grassroots, non-government funded, not-for-profit, science group of its kind in Australia.
The Central Highlands Science Centre (CHSC) is a community organisation with one aim - to inspire and ignite the mind of future generations.
In addition to free community science events like astronomy nights, open days, educational expos and school excursions, the CHSC also runs the ever-popular Science Club for primary school aged children who have a keen interest in everything Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEAM).
CHSC was founded in Capella in 1995, and is now run in Emerald from the Spencer Smith Pavilion at the Emerald Showgrounds. We service the entire Central Highlands region, which at 53,677km² is bigger than Tasmania!
