ABOUT US
The Central Highlands Science Centre (CHSC) is recognised as the most remote, non-government funded, not-for-profit science centre in Australia. A community organisation with one aim - to inspire the minds of future generations.
In addition to community science events like astronomy nights, open days, educational expos and school excursions, the CHSC also runs the ever-popular Curiosity & Science Clubs for children primary school aged and younger who have a keen interest in everything Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM). These term time science clubs currently run in Emerald, Blackwater and starting in Tieri in 2020. CHSC was founded in Capella in 1995, and is now run in Emerald from the Spencer Smith Pavilion at the Emerald Showgrounds. The Region we service extends beyond Central Highlands region, and is bigger than Tasmania!
The Central Highlands Science Centre (CHSC) is always looking to for volunteers and parent helpers to assist with our Programs.
